Canine Vaccine Policy for Sumter Pet Sitters
SUMTER PET SITTERS REQUIRES PROOF OF VACCINATIONS FOR EACH CANINE PET GUEST
Sumter Pet Sitters is dedicated to the specialized attentive care and well-being of each pet guest. We work hard to ensure that each pet is healthy, happy and completely comfortable in our PAWsitive and nurturing social environment.
For all Canine Pet-Guests We Require: DHPP/DHLPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza) | Fecal Screening | Bordetella* | Rabies (for dogs 3 months or older) | We also recommend: Canine Influenza H3N2/H3N8 Bivalent (2 doses) – Visit here for flu vaccine details.
*MANDATORY WAITING PERIOD FOLLOWING ANY BORDETELLA VACCINATION
After being vaccinated with the Bordetella vaccine, a non-negotiable waiting period is required before your dog can come into Sumter Pet Sitters and be around other dogs. Because of this waiting period, we strongly advise that your dog receive their Bordetella vaccination at least two to three weeks prior to your dog’s scheduled stay at Sumter Pet Sitters. The Bordetella vaccination is much like a flu shot for humans, in that, following their vaccination, there is a possibility that your dog might contract a mild form of the strain. As a result, your dog may be contagious and pass it on to other dogs. If your dog shows any symptoms of Canine Cough, they are not allowed in our facility at any time during their treatment. Additionally, all dogs must be symptom-free for at least 14 days before they can return to activity at Sumter Pet Sitters.
