Professional dog groomers, professional dog handlers, and some veterinary technicians are well trained in grooming, so you can be assured that your beloved pup is in good hands. However, it’s certainly useful for owners to learn maintenance grooming to keep their dogs looking sharp in-between visits to the groomer.
List of basic grooming tools you will want to have are:
- Nail trimmers
- Scissors
- Comb or brush
- Clippers
- Clipper combs
- Clipper Cleaner
- Clipper Oil
- Clipper steel brush
On top of being good for your budget, grooming your dog at home is a great opportunity for you to build trust with your pet and to ensure that you’re always in the know about any health changes or behavioral differences. The more your pet becomes used to being groomed, washed, dried, the more cooperative your pet will be whenever it’s time to do it all again!
I don\’t try grooming at home. But yeah, thanks for the article.
The article is great but still, I would never even try to groom my dog at home haha 🙂
Why not?
Lana, maybe start out with just trimming around her eyes. But brushing her regularly has helped with her not having so much matting. So keep that up at least!
